When Jim Cycyk and his first employee Paul Beecher (now part-owner and Vice President of the company) opened their first Cameras Etc. Wilmington store in 1977, disco was all the craze and millions were flocking to see the first "Star Wars".
Jim and Paul entered an already crowded marketplace because they believed that they could offer better service, better photographic knowledege and prices fairer than their competitors.
Thirty years later, Cameras Etc. is still following the original philosophy of Jim and Paul! We have become Delaware's largest independent full service imaging store, serving the amateur/professional photographer as well as the needs of our corporate, educational, governmental and law enforcement customers.
From our humble grand opening in a 600 square foot store with mostly empty shelves, we have grown to two stores with more than 6200 square feet of space filled with inventory!
Cameras Etc. was the first photo store in Delaware to have an on-site color lab, the first to sell camcorders, the first store of any kind to sell digital cameras in Delaware and the first camera store in the State to have ever displayed and sold digital printers, HDTV, DVD players...the list goes on...so even though Jim and Paul wore leisure suits (anybody remember them?) at their grand opening...Cameras Etc. will always be on the cutting edge of products and services.
